Does pet insurance pay vets directly?
Some pet insurers can pay your vet directly, but it depends on your provider. Napo is able to pay vets directly when you make a claim.
Your vet can also make claims on your behalf too using our vet portal. Ask your vet if they would be happy to try this.
Pet insurance can pay your vet directly, depending on your vet
Napo pet insurance can pay your vet directly. However, whether a vet will take direct payments depends on your vet and how they choose to handle payments.
Some vets will allow us to pay them, so you won’t need to pay your vet fees upfront.
Even if we pay your vets, you might be asked by your vet to pay your excess upfront. (We offer a low excess of only £99 per condition, per year.) Meanwhile, other vets will allow you to settle the excess later.
Meanwhile, other vets will ask for all payments upfront from the owner. You can send us your claim, and we’ll refund you the costs, (minus your excess.). If you would prefer us to pay rather than your vet, we can.
So in short, Napo pet insurance can pay direct to your vets, but you’ll need to ask your vet if they accept direct payments.
We've got you covered for:
Accident and illness
If your pet gets poorly, we’ll cover vet treatment. That includes tests, surgeries, hospitalisation, medication, and more.
Dental work
We’re one of the only insurers to cover dental illnesses, including tartar removal and extractions.
Complementary treatment
Such as physiotherapy to help mend a torn muscle, or treatment to relieve general aches, pains, and stiffness.
Behavioural treatment
To stop bad habits like excessive grooming, or helping pets feel less anxious when you’re not there.
Travel and holidays
We include travel cover in case your pet needs to see a vet abroad, or you have to extend or cut a trip short because of your pet.
Emergency boarding
Covering the cost of putting your pet into a kennel or cattery if you need to go into hospital and can’t look after them.
Finding a missing pet
If your pet goes missing, we’ll pay advertising costs and the reward.
Third party liability
If your dog injures someone or damages property and a claim is made against you (but these breeds aren't covered).

I was a little skeptical to insure my dogs with a new Company, however I am so pleased that I did. My dog encountered a problem which Napo dealt with in a very professional and efficient manner, always being extremely courteous and answering mail and questions very quickly, therefore I have no hesitation in recommending them, indeed I already have to two of my Canine Friends,.

Really good value for great level of cover, also like that you have access to an online vet 24/7 at no additional cost or detriment to your policy. So far so good.

Right, So when I took my policy out there was no reviews about claims so here is mine. My Mini Dachshund managed to hoover up some raisins in the woods on our walk. It looked like somebody had scattered trail mix on the floor and raisins being blended in with the mud I didn't see them! (Which is annoying when you do everything you can to make sure your dog is safe and well). Instantly googled for advice and called my vet who wanted him in within the hour for a sickness injection, they also gave him some activated charcoal and advised bloods in a couple of days. Obviously I agreed as I just wanted to make sure he was OK! The next day I put my claim in and heard back instantly saying they would request my vet notes. Annoyingly it took my vets over two weeks to send these but that is no fault of Napo. However what was excellent was during these two weeks I was emailed every two days and although there was no progress from my vet I was still informed. Finally my vets sent what they needed to, on 10th March I was notified Napo would now work on my claim. Today (25th March) I've woken up to my money back. I honestly couldn't fault the service especially being kept in the loop every two days when there was no progress from my vet. Much better than just submitting a claim and hearing nothing then having to chase it up myself. I gave 4 stars because I am unsure if my policy quote will rise next year with now claiming, time will tell, I will update on this when the time comes but incase anybody else is out there searching all corners of the Internet for decent pet insurance company! Definitely reccomend taking a policy out.

Frequently asked questions
Which pet insurance pays the vet directly?
Many pet insurance companies pay vets directly, including Napo! We can provide cat insurance and dog insurance that pays vets directly. However, not all vets will accept payments from insurers. If you’d like us to pay your vet directly, be sure to ask your vet if they’ll accept direct payments.
Does Napo pet insurance pay direct to vet?
We’re happy to pay you or your vet. But not every vet takes direct payments. If you want us to pay your vets directly, please ask your vet if they’re happy to take direct payments. If they are, we can send all payments straight to them.
What pet insurance do most vets accept?
Many vets will accept most pet insurance companies. However, depending on their individual experience or preference, a vet may decide that they won’t accept direct payments from a certain insurer. Or they might take direct payment for small claims, but not big ones.
If you want to know if your vet accepts direct pet insurance payments, it’s best to ask them. If they’re happy to take direct payments, we can pay them!
Does pet insurance pay everything?
It depends on your provider and the kind of pet insurance cover you've bought. The more comprehensive your policy, and the higher your cover limit, the more your insurer will pay for.
The kind of policy you buy can also affect whether your pet insurer will pay for conditions for their duration, or just for a set time limit.
Here at Napo, we only offer lifetime cover. That means we’ll cover any approved conditions your pet develops while insured with us for the rest of their life. As long as your policy is active.
Our insurance is also super comprehensive. So we'll pay for a lot! As well as paying vet fees, we also cover things like dental cover and travel cover.
